Safe Haven of Iowa County

We are excited to introduce everyone to Lucy! Unforunately Lucy's owner recently passed away, so she has had many changes in her life but is finding herself to be settling in well under our care. Although still somewhat unsure and nervous of her environment and many new faces - Lucy is appearing to love all of the attention and enjoys a warm lap to sit on! We are working hard on building a trusting bond with this sweet little lady so we can continue learning more about her. Lucy is around 7 years young, so she is through the puppy antics but still has the typical terrier energy to enjoy. She was previously house trained for her owner, but will need a refresher on this training as she was not on a regular potty schedule most recently. 

We are learning more about Lucy every day - so far she has enjoyed being outside on her walks. She has started her newest journey - a weightloss journey! She could lose several pounds yet to be a healthy weight for a little gal of her size, so we are working on her diet as well as making sure she gets her daily walks (which she already seems to be enjoying!) Lucy does appear to startle easily with loud noises and sudden movements, so her next family should be prepared to move slow as she builds a trusting bond. A quiet home would be great, as that is a familiar setting for Lucy.

Lucy has been brought up-to-date on her vaccinations, has been microchipped, was previously spayed, and has begun monthly flea/tick & heartworm preventatives.
